What's the difference between a "DUDE RANCH' and a "GUEST RANCH?" The answer may surprise you..."Not much really." Historically, when people, mostly from the East, came out West to experience the Western Cowboy lifestyle, they were affectionately referred to as Dudes. The term "Dude" was used to basically describe an inexperienced person around horses and cattle. Over the years, Guest Ranch and Dude Ranch were used interchangeably reflecting the Ranch Hosts desire to share their lifestyle and hospitality, with anyone from around the world.
